Stillhaven or Gumlet?

Gumlet is video infrastructure: fast encoding, DRM, live streaming, an API on every paid plan, and prices that start at $6 a month. We are a quieter tool for sending finished video to clients, students and teams. If you are weighing a Gumlet alternative, here is the split, with every Gumlet number taken from a page Gumlet publishes itself.

The short version

If you are building video into a product, need DRM or live streaming, or want the lowest price for the bandwidth, use Gumlet. It does more and costs less.

If a small team shares the library, clients need to sign off, and you would rather count storage in gigabytes than minutes, that is us.

Where Stillhaven is the better choice

More than one person runs the library

Creator includes 3 manager seats and 25 viewer seats. Gumlet Creator is two seats, and five seats come with Growth at $29 a month month to month or $19 annually. Viewers who only watch are a separate pool here, so an audience does not use up the seats your team needs.

Your library is long

Gumlet counts storage in minutes of video: 1,000 on Creator, 3,000 on Growth, 15,000 on Business, and a single video is capped at four hours by default on its paid plans. A thousand minutes is under 17 hours, however small the files are. We count gigabytes, and Creator includes 250, with files up to 100 GB each. A library of lessons or screen recordings can pass 17 hours long before it reaches 250 GB.

Your client has to approve the cut

Client review lets a reviewer leave timestamped notes on a share page without an account. You reply or resolve, and they sign off when the cut is right. On every paid plan.

You record as well as upload

Record your screen, your camera, or both from the console, with no app to install. Paid plans have no time limit and can blur the background behind you, and the share link works before processing finishes.

You send video to people, not only publish it

Create a link that stops working after six hours to thirty days, or send a video to up to ten people by email with a note. Tick a box when you upload and one email tells you when it is ready. On every paid plan.

You want a tool, not a toolkit

Gumlet's plans list live streaming minutes, AI credits, VAST tags, H265 and dynamic watermarking. That is the right list for an engineering team. Ours is shorter: upload or record, embed, share.

You want to see who tried to embed it

Allowed domains, on every paid plan: list the domains where a video may be embedded, per video or as a default for the whole library. When a site you did not allow tries anyway, your analytics name it. Gumlet restricts embeds by domain from its Creator plan too.

Where Gumlet is the better choice

You want the lowest price

Gumlet Creator is $9 a month month to month or $6 annually, with 3 TB of monthly bandwidth, no Gumlet logo and API access. Creator here is $27 month to month or $22 annually with 1 TB.

You need DRM

Gumlet adds Widevine and FairPlay DRM to any paid plan for $99 a month. We have none. Allowed domains keeps an embed on your sites, and it is not DRM.

You want 4K without a bigger plan

Gumlet streams 4K with HDR10 on every plan, including free. Ours streams up to 1080p on Free and Creator and 4K from Studio.

You want protection on the free plan

Password protection and geo-blocking are on every Gumlet plan, including free. Our password protection starts on Creator, and we do not offer geo-blocking.

You stream live, or video does marketing work

Every Gumlet plan includes live streaming minutes. Pixel tracking for Google and Meta is on Creator, and CRM integrations and AI chapters from Growth. We do not stream live. We generate captions when you ask and give you an editor for the transcript, and stop there.

Creator against Gumlet Creator and Growth. Gumlet Creator is their entry paid plan. Growth is the Gumlet plan nearest Creator's price. Both billing periods are shown, because Gumlet's page opens on the annual rate.

Gumlet figures checked against gumlet.com/pricing on 4 October 2026. Prices move; if you are reading this much later, check theirs before you decide. Ours are on our pricing page, checked the same day.

What both of us do

Adaptive streaming that fits the viewer's connection.

Generated captions.

Password protection, and embeds restricted to the domains you choose.

An API on the entry paid plan.

A published per-gigabyte rate past the allowance.

AI access is worth calling out, because we talk about our Claude connector elsewhere and it is not a difference here: Gumlet lists API and MCP access from its Creator plan, and our API and connector are on every paid plan. The overage rate is not a difference either: both entry plans bill $0.15 per GB past the allowance.

Questions people ask

Is Stillhaven cheaper than Gumlet?
No. Gumlet Creator is $9 a month month to month or $6 annually. Creator here is $27 or $22. What Creator adds is 3 manager seats, 25 viewer seats, client review with sign-off, expiring links, a recorder, and storage counted in gigabytes. Current prices are on our pricing page and theirs.
Does Stillhaven have DRM?
No. Videos are delivered with short-lived signed access, and allowed domains keeps an embed on the sites you list. Neither is DRM. If you need Widevine and FairPlay, Gumlet sells it as an add-on.
How do Gumlet's storage minutes compare with gigabytes?
They measure different things. Minutes count how long your videos run. Gigabytes count how large the files are. A library of long, light recordings fits gigabytes better. A library of short, heavy masters fits minutes better.
Can I move my videos from Gumlet to Stillhaven?
Yes. Drag a folder of your original files into the uploader and its structure becomes your folders. There is no direct Gumlet importer.
