Stillhaven or FrameRate?

FrameRate is a new platform for filmmakers, motion designers and studios: hosting, review, showcases and a creative community in one place, from $10 a month. We do the hosting and client delivery half of that, and none of the community half. If you are weighing a FrameRate alternative, here is the split, with every FrameRate number taken from a page FrameRate publishes itself.

The short version

If you want your work seen by other creatives, a portfolio that helps you get hired, and the most storage for the money, use FrameRate.

If the video is for a client, a student or a team, and nobody else should come across it, that is us.

Where Stillhaven is the better choice

Nothing here is public unless you make it so

There is no feed, no profile and no discovery in Stillhaven. A video is seen by the people you send it to, and a share page can be turned off on every plan, including Free. On FrameRate, private and hidden videos start on Plus.

More than one person runs the library

Creator includes 3 manager seats and 25 viewer seats. FrameRate Plus and Pro are single-seat plans, and five seats come with Teams at $36 a month month to month or $30 on an annual plan. Viewers who only watch are a separate pool here, so an audience does not use up the seats your team needs.

You want embed control that reports back

Allowed domains, on every paid plan: list the domains where a video may be embedded, per video or as a default for the whole library, and turn off its public page so your embeds are the only way in. When a site you did not allow tries anyway, your analytics name it. FrameRate restricts embeds by domain too.

You teach, or you run a private audience

Public channels are on Creator. From Studio, private channels put viewers behind their own sign-in and show each viewer's progress lesson by lesson.

You record as well as upload

Record your screen, your camera, or both from the console. Paid plans have no time limit and can blur the background behind you.

You send video to people, not only publish it

Create a link that stops working after six hours to thirty days, or send a video to up to ten people by email with a note. On every paid plan.

You want captions and an API

Captions when you ask for them, with an editor for the transcript, on every plan. A documented API and a Claude connector on every paid plan.

Where FrameRate is the better choice

You want the most storage for the money

FrameRate Plus is $12 a month month to month or $10 on an annual plan, with 2.5 TB of storage. Pro is $24 or $20 with 5 TB. Creator is $27 month to month or $22 annually with 250 GB. If your library is large masters, FrameRate holds far more for less.

You do not want a bandwidth meter

FrameRate's pricing FAQ says it does not impose bandwidth or playback limits at this time. Creator includes 1 TB a month and bills $0.15 per GB past it.

You want 4K on the entry plan

FrameRate plays 4K from Plus, its $10 plan. Ours streams up to 1080p on Creator and keeps your 4K original. 4K streaming starts on Studio.

You want to be found by other creatives

A discovery feed, profiles to follow, and an "available to work" badge. FrameRate is built so that the studios and artists you want to work with can find you. We have no audience to offer you.

You want deeper review tools

FrameRate offers frame-accurate review with comments and annotations pinned to an exact frame, live Sync Calls where you and a client watch together, and a live view of the client's cursor. Ours is timestamped notes, replies, and a sign-off.

You want to pitch with it

Showcases collect work into a full-screen reel for pitches and submissions, with a password and per-invite analytics, and they are on every plan, including free. We have share pages and channels, and nothing built for a pitch.

Stillhaven and FrameRate, side by side

Creator against FrameRate Plus and Teams. Plus is their entry paid plan. Teams is the FrameRate plan nearest Creator's price, and the first with more than one seat. Both billing periods are shown, because FrameRate's page opens on the annual rate.

What both of us do

An embed that works on any site, restricted to the domains you choose.

Review notes from clients on the video itself, with no account needed to leave them.

Password protection on paid plans.

Analytics on plays.

Downloads you can allow or withhold.

Review is worth calling out, because we make a point of client review elsewhere and it is not a clear difference here: both of us let a client comment on a cut without an account. Theirs goes deeper, with frame accuracy and live calls. Ours adds a sign-off.

Questions people ask

Is Stillhaven cheaper than FrameRate?
No. FrameRate Plus is $12 a month month to month or $10 on an annual plan, with 2.5 TB of storage. Creator is $27 month to month or $22 annually with 250 GB and 1 TB of monthly bandwidth. What Creator adds is 3 manager seats, 25 viewer seats, a recorder, expiring links, private channels from Studio, and the API. Current prices are on our pricing page and theirs.
Which is better for sending work to clients?
Both handle review without the client making an account. FrameRate adds frame-accurate notes and live calls. Stillhaven adds a sign-off, links that expire, sending by email, and a library three people can manage on the entry plan.
Which is better for a showreel?
FrameRate. It has profiles, discovery and a community of people who hire. Stillhaven has none of that and is not trying to.
Can I move my videos from FrameRate to Stillhaven?
Yes. Drag a folder of your original files into the uploader and its structure becomes your folders. There is no direct FrameRate importer.
